Tubs vs. Showers?
Should you remove a bathtub and replace it with a shower when remodeling a bathroom?
There are several reasons for this topic to float to the surface. Most of us have reached a point where we are comfortable with our home and the surrounding neighborhood. Due to the economy, the days of moving up are on hold and we are content to remain in our community. Also, most people prefer to shower rather than bathe. And face it, we are not getting any younger and those of us who still play sports might find it easier to step into a shower rather than climb into a tub. A grab bar can come in handy here as well.
When prospective remodeling clients ask me about a tub vs. shower decision, I usually ask them the following questions:
1.) How often do people bathe vs. shower in your home? 2.) Do you have more than one bathroom? 3.) Is it outdated? 4.) Are you going to stay in your house long term? 5.) How old are your kids? 6.) Do you have a parent who stays with you? 7.) Is your bath on the 1st or 2nd floor? 8.) Would you like a seat in your shower? 9.) Would a shower offer added benefits such as room for a larger Vanity? 10.) Would you prefer grab bars to hold on too?
Answering these questions should provide you with enough information when you are facing the dilemma of tub vs. shower. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss your particular situation.
